From Long Sleeves to Sleeveless
A classic dress reimagined with a lighter, more modern twist
This elegant burgundy dress already featured a clean V-neckline and flattering twist detail at the waist, but the client felt the long sleeves made it a bit too formal and restrictive. She wanted something that felt more comfortable, breathable, and suitable for an active, everyday look.
Alteration Highlights:
Sleeve Removal
We carefully removed the long sleeves while reshaping the shoulder line to maintain the overall balance and natural flow of the dress.
Armhole Finishing
After removing the sleeves, we reinforced the armholes with interfacing and added clean facings to ensure a smooth, structured finish that holds its shape.
Silhouette Refinement
Switching to a sleeveless style brings more attention to the upper body, so we slightly reshaped the bust and waist to enhance the silhouette and keep the lines soft and seamless.
The Transformation
The Before version gives off a timeless, formal impression—perfect for cooler seasons or classic occasions. In contrast, the After version feels much lighter and more refreshing. The sleeveless design makes it easy to wear in warmer weather and opens up a variety of styling options.
